About Chris Johnson, Psy.D.
Founder & President, Q4 Consulting
Chris Johnson PsyD., a licensed psychologist, consultant, coach and author, has helped individuals and organizations grapple with change and develop their strengths for over 20 years. Her main areas of interest and study have been the systemic effects of stress and the development of resiliency in people in their personal and professional lives. Studying and practicing the principals of mindfulness opened up ideas for new ways of addressing stress, developing resiliency, and transforming individuals and organizations.
The intersection of these experiences and interests led Chris to found Q4 Consulting in 2002, after having a clinical practice since 1988. Through Q4, Chris works with individual leaders, employee and leadership teams, and organizations to clarify goals and develop competencies. Q4’s solutions create feedback-rich environments in which to develop excellence in leadership that results in transformational change.
Chris is particularly interested in developing mindfulness practices to foster resiliency, integrity and creativity, and is at the forefront of using mindfulness as the underpinning of a consulting and coaching practice. As a business psychologist, Chris has worked extensively with leaders and employees to affect individual, team and system-wide change. As director of an employee assistance program, she taught and trained work teams; coached managers in addressing issues related to work stress, personnel conflicts, and problem employees; and worked with senior leadership in strategic planning and performance enhancement. Her experience addressing stress and resiliency reaches back to her work as a clinical psychologist, where she focused on addressing traumatic stress in individuals and families by developing competencies and resiliency. Chris holds a doctorate in psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, and a master of social work from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She has advanced training in Systems Thinking from Northwestern University’s Family Institute Program; in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society; and in organizational development from DePaul University. She completed the New Ventures West Integral Coaching Program and Family Business Consulting with the Family Firm Institute.
In addition to being a published author, Chris has conducted numerous workshops and seminars. She teaches a mindfulness-based stress reduction course, A Mindful Course™, each quarter in the community.
